A “story of change” is an extraordinary action or project that is initiated by a person or organization from the 50 poorest countries of the world. A "story of change" provides practical and long-term SOLUTIONS to one or more of the five SAWA Themes. The SAWA Themes incorporate focus on solving some of the main global challenges of extreme poverty, child protection, disease control, gender equality and environmental degradation and support some of the key goals of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Learn more about the 5 SAWA Themes. The stories of change are selected on several characteristics as follows: 1. The level of hope and inspiration that the project promotes; 2. The amount of local people that are positively affected by the project; 3. The practical and long-term suitability to resolve one or more of the seven SAWA Themes; 4. The level of ease by which the general public can assist the project; and 5. The quality of the visual images. Learn more how to Submit a Story.
